Hello, my name is...
Well, it's not Lingua Road. That's just a name I came up with for my business. Why Lingua Road? Because what I do is all about language, and language takes you to places - the way roads do.
My name is Attila. Like Attila the Hun. Except, unlike him, I’m no barbarian. That's me with a laptop, see?
For about 35 years now, my life has centred around English. It was pop lyrics that got me started in my early teens, and I never looked back. I studied English at uni, then taught as a freelancer for 18 years straight – first in Budapest, then in Vienna, where I still live today. It was mostly in-house business English courses for all sorts of industries, but for five years I also worked as a lecturer at a Viennese university.
Long before that, in my mid-twenties, I tried my hand at journalism and translation – they’ve only been side hustles since then, but because they’re about the written word, I've always enjoyed them. A few years ago, I wrote a novel, then worked as a content writer at a small agency for over two and a half years. Now I’m back to freelancing, offering what I’ve done and gained experience in over the past decades: language teaching, writing, proofreading, and translation.
I have a sense of humour, but I also take work - your project, that is - seriously. Oh and I like just about everything that has to do with culture. Again, unlike my infamous namesake.
